<p><font face="arial">The employee starts to get emails 7/24, they become addicted to the technology and have a tendancy to use it more and more and more over time.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Does the company start to have a &#8220;We Own You&#8221; mentality raising their expectations and expecting prompt email response?</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">When I speak to clients - it is amazing how many companies are creating the culture that Blackberry use is the 1st priority.</font></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A recent 17 country global survey conducted for <a target="_blank" href="http://www.roberthalftechnology.com">Robert Half</a> earlier this year found that Canadians are some of the hardest workers in the world.  Since unemployment is so low, people find temselves working through a lot of excess work and needing to be more available to get work done.</p>
<p>The survey of 2,300 finance and accounting managers and confirmed the following findings:<br />
Luxembourg and Japan put in longer hours at the office.  It appears Canadians work longer hours than their counterparts in France, Switzerland or even the United States.</p>
<p>Here are some of the statistics -</p>
<p>Average number of hours worked:<br />
- Luxembourg - 47.6<br />
- Japan - 47.1<br />
- Ireland - 45.8<br />
- Canada - 42.5<br />
- US - 40.9<br />
- Switzerland - 36.4</p>
<p>As for email access after hours here are the statistics:<br />
Number of responsents that occasionally check e-mail after hours:<br />
- Canada - 83%<br />
- Hong Kong - 83%</p>
<p>Number of respondents that always check e-mail after hours<br />
- Netherlands - 46%<br />
- Canada - 44%<br />

Number of responents that take a PDA or laptop on vacation:<br />
- Hong Kong - 90%<br />
- Canada - 38%<br />
- Ireland - 16%</p>
